  • Overview

    The IT department is made up of Corporate IT and Service Delivery/NOC teams.  Reporting into the CTO, the primary responsibility for the Head of IT is to manage the operations of the IT department and to ensure it aligns with the business objectives and the strategy of the organisation, which runs on a 24/7 basis.


    You will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT function, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. You will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organisation. 


    What you will do:

    • Managing the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, performance, uptime, and support of all corporate IT systems including servers, operating systems, hardware and communication networks
    • Developing business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for projects and initiatives for corporate infrastructure and operations
    • Developing and implementing all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision
    • Standardising project and task tracking to optimize the focus and maximize the throughput in a meaningful and measurable way, focusing on Delivery Lead Time, Time to Restore Service, and Change Fail Rate
    • Setting, monitoring and reporting on KPIs and SLAs for IT Service Delivery across the department
    • Managing IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources
    • Managing IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, and regular evaluation
    • Creating, motivating, and developing an IT team responsible for developing and supporting the business demands
    • Leading and inspiring the IT team to instil quality, encourage innovation and reduce defects
    • Reviewing the performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements
    • Benchmarking, analysing, reporting on, and making recommendations for the improvement of IT systems
    • Developing strategies to maximise business uptime through adding resilience by developing business continuity plans
    • Analysing existing operations and making recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems
    • Negotiating and administering vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements


    Who you are:

    • Ability to design, plan, manage and co-ordinate network / infrastructure projects
    • Experience in managing suppliers and software licence agreements
    • Experience in owning and controlling a significant annual IT budget
    • Cloud migration experience
    • A degree in a related field
    • Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment
    • Experience in Information Security Management for a large data focused organisation
